Design Spotlight: Classic Outdoor Living in Ridgefield, Connecticut

The summer season here in New England flies by so quickly. All the more reason to find bliss in outdoor entertaining, dining al fresco, and savoring our gardens in bloom. We’re excited to share inspiring views of a classic outdoor retreat at this beautiful historic home in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Enjoy this quick tour with sophisticated design ideas to inspire your next outdoor living project.

An inviting porch beckons with its tasteful assemblage of outdoor furniture, including a substantial four-seat sofa, large coffee table, and deep armchairs, all from the Kenneth Lynch & Sons Florentine Classics Collection. Dramatic star and dolphin details reinforce the sophisticated vibe of the outdoor design. White cushions with black piping create a classic look that ties together the porch seating with the poolside cabana and umbrellas.

A chic tented cabana offers a retreat from the hot sun while enjoying poolside views and encouraging great conversation. Deep, comfy armchairs with ottomans provide indoor-level comfort to enhance outdoor lounging. Add a convenient side table at arm’s length for that refreshing cocktail – and ready to enjoy an afternoon by the pool.

An intimate dining area on the porch creates an inviting ambiance for everyday meals and hosting intimate parties, conveniently close to the kitchen. Classical motifs on the dining chairs and table complement the traditional home. Two additional seating areas with chic retro umbrellas evoke languid poolside meals at a tranquil resort, serving up an inspiring retreat and ideal scenario for entertaining.

Decorative Garden Elements Create Focal Points

Adding to the ambiance of peace and tranquility, a classical fountain anchors a garden area leading to the pool. To complete their relaxing outdoor oasis, the homeowner worked with landscape designer, Studer Design Associates, to find the ideal fountain for the new garden. The Lead Frog Fountain from the Kenneth Lynch & Sons Estate Elements Collection was then customized with a newly designed pedestal and a classical border detail for the basin. The fountain fits beautifully in the garden surrounded by lush greenery in bloom in spring and summer and provides a lovely focal point in the barren winter months, which we know all too well!
