Design Destination: Ridgefield CT & the Area

There’s a reason you can’t help but gawk at the beautiful houses in and around Ridgefield. The town carries a long history of stunning New England architecture that spans over three centuries. From their colonial era roots, local homes have adopted Georgian and Victorian influences and modern and sleek details for a final effect that will make you say, “Wow!” as you cruise down Main St.

Ridgefield truly is a home design lover’s dream, and luckily, the area—including the surrounding towns of Redding and Wilton—boasts plenty of amazing home decor, art, furniture, and antique shops to satisfy your passion.

Our team scouted each local store as part of our Design Destinations series this summer. What you’ll find below is a list of the most impressive curations of vintage goods and beautiful designer collections to adorn your home. Whether you’re just visiting for a weekend getaway or you’re a proud local with a free Saturday to fill, you must check out these fascinating and unique design destinations in Ridgefield, Wilton, and Redding:

VINTAGE & ANTIQUES

Right in the heart of downtown Ridgefield, this consignment store makes it too easy to come in and explore what antique and vintage furniture, art, lighting, glassware, sofas, and sideboards have lined the floor. Fresh inventory drops most days of the week and the prices are very reasonable (we scored a pair of brass palm tree candle holders for less than $40).

Ridgefield Thrift Shop

If you’re in town on a Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday from 12 to 4 pm, make it a point to stop by Ridgefield’s most beloved thrift shop. All the proceeds from this town staple (it’s been around since 1937!) support well-deserving charities. In fact, RTS gave grants to 81 local organizations in 2023 and eight $5,000 scholarships to Ridgefield students this year. The donated goods you can shop in-store (or via online auction) include everything from seasonal decor to fine china, linens and draperies, clothing, and more.
